Communication & Social Media
THE COMMUNICATION PATHWAY EVERY COMMUNITY CAN BUILD FROM
Technology can strengthen relationships, reduce isolation, and help residents share meaningful moments with the people who matter most. Communication & Social Media gives adults 55+ practical tools to communicate more confidently, participate more safely, and stay connected in everyday life.
Connection. Confidence. Safer sharing.
WHY THIS LEARNING PATHWAY MATTERS
Communication tools are most helpful when residents understand both how to use them and how to protect their privacy. These workshops replace uncertainty with patient instruction, guided practice, and safer digital habits.
FIVE PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS:
- SOCIAL MEDIA BASICS
Understand profiles, posts, comments, privacy settings, careful sharing, and common social-media scams.
- FACEBOOK BASICS
Learn to navigate Facebook, connect with friends and family, share updates, manage privacy, and recognize fake accounts or misleading links.
- VIDEO CALLING
Make and receive face-to-face calls using tools such as FaceTime or Zoom while practicing links, camera controls, microphones, and call quality.
- TAKING & SHARING PHOTOS
Take, organize, delete, and safely share meaningful photos from a smartphone or tablet.
- STAYING CONNECTED WITH FAMILY
Bring communication tools together through texts, video calls, photos, shared calendars, and other helpful technology.
ONE WORKSHOP. TWO VALUABLE EXPERIENCES:
- EDUCATION
Clear instruction, patient demonstrations, accessible materials, and guided practice help residents communicate more confidently and safely.
- PRACTICAL TECH SUPPORT
Time is also reserved for simple questions involving smartphones, tablets, email, apps, settings, passwords, photos, and other everyday technology concerns.
